Work is vital for disabled

WHEELCHAIR ramps, railings and adapted bathrooms are to be installed at the homes of social housing tenants with disabilities in Boston.

Maintenance firm Kier has signed a £130,000 per annum four-year contract with Longhurst and Havelock Homes to carry out the work in the town and at properties in Lincoln and Grimsby.

Eleven new staff members have been taken on as part of the deal including plumbers, electricians, joiners and bricklayers.

Kier senior regional operations manager Heidi Thompson, said: "This contract will be vital in providing a high quality aids and adaptations service to enable residents to live safely and more independently within their homes.

"We are proud to be working alongside our local partners to carry out such important work."

Longhurst and Havelock Homes head of property services Richard Tweddell added: "This new contract with Kier will help us to provide suitable accommodation for our residents no matter what additional need they may have."
