STAFF and pupils from a new independent school in Boston are celebrating after being rated outstanding in its first OFSTED inspection.
St George's Preparatory School, run by husband and wife team Sarah and Mark Whelan, were particularly praised for their quality of teaching the curriculum.
Inspector Joanne Harvey said: "St George's Preparatory School and Little Dragon's Preschool provides an outstanding education for its pupils and meets its aims exceptionally well.
"It meets all of the regulations for an independent school and the extremely well planned curriculum precisely matches the interests, needs and abilities of each individual pupils."
The school first opened its doors in September 2011 with its curriculum based on Forest School methodology.
Mark Whelan said: "The report highlights the high levels of self confidence amongst our pup ils.
"Our approach is a brave and new one, combining the nurturing power of the natural environment with active learning techniques.
"Ofsted have recognised the phenomenal success of our pupils because they are at the heart of everything we do."
The school is located in a woodland environment on the outskirts of Boston and children spend time outdoors each day as well as receiving a two-and-a-half-hour Forest School session week.
In Forest School sessions children learn to build fires, climb trees, make shelters, play in mud, whittle and cook over the campfire when adults feel they are ready.
Ms Harvey added: "Pupils clearly take delight in every moment at school and make excellent progress because of the outstanding teaching and thorough assessment.
"Pupils become confident, articulate, well-rounded young people while they are at the school.
"There are robust arrangements for safeguarding pupils and provision for their welfare, health and safety is outstanding; parent and carers value highly the care provided and the attention given to promoting pupils' well-being and enjoyment of the school."
