PILGRIM Hospital's chemotherapy suite will be receiving a welcome boost from Boston Ladies' Circle.

The group has already raised £2,700 for the unit by walking more than 32 miles from Lincoln to Boston.

Liz Balderston, chairman of Boston Ladies Circle and junior sister at United Lincolnshire Hospital NHS Trust, said: "We decided to fund raise for the chemo suite as it holds a special place in our hearts.

"We are so pleased to be able to give something back for all the hard work of the staff there and we hope the community day will be a great success. Come and see us there."

The money will be used to buy some furnishings to make the suite more comfortable and aid patients while they are receiving their therapy.

Boston Ladies Circle chose the chemotherapy suite at Pilgrim Hospital to donate to as some of the members know people who need its services.

Now a community showcase day, which is an annual event which takes place in Central Park, Boston, is set to boost the fundraising effort.

Community organisations will take part in the day which will include displays and raffles.

Organisations taking part will include Lincolnshire Police, the ambulance and fire services as well as Boston College.

There will be cookery demonstrations, dancing, keep fit and live music.

The event will take place this Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
