LOANEE Matt Wilson looks to have played his last game for Boston United after it emerged he requires another operation on his troublesome knee injury.

The Pilgrims had high hopes for the Alfreton utility man when he arrived at the Jakemans Stadium on a three-month loan deal on the eve of the new season.

But after making an impressive start to his United career, Wilson has not played since early September.

"That injury is not going to go away, he needs an operation," said Jason Lee, who says Wilson could return to Alfreton before his loan deal expires on November 17.

"It's been a problem for us that he's not played the games since he's been here.

"That's something we're trying to resolve with Alfreton.

"He's good lad with a good attitude and, if he'd been fit, it would have been a big bonus for us.

"He'll go back to Alfreton. He's with us at the moment, but he's unable to play. He's deadwood in terms of that."

Asked if Wilson was carrying an injury when he arrived at Boston, Lee replied: "That's something we're getting into.

"He had an operation before he came here and he believed it was okay and clear.

"He was given the all-clear by his surgeon and he did his fitness tests and played pre-season games, then he started the season for us."

Wilson's departure would free up funds for Lee to strengthen his squad with Ben Fairclough and Spencer Weir-Daley set to serve three-match suspensions after Saturday's home clash with Worcester City.

Defender Travis Munn and winger Joseph French have been released.

Former Pilgrims striker Mikel Suarez is on the mend after spending last week in intensive with a head injury.

Suarez fell ill following a clash of heads with Tonbridge Angels team-mate Lee Browning in the game against Farnborough.

But thankfully the 26-year-old came out of intensive care late last week and it is hoped he will make a full recovery.
