CRIMESTOPPERS and Cyprus Police are launching a new campaign in Lincolnshire to help locate nine wanted fugitives, believed to be hiding in Cyprus.

The campaign includes an appeal for an individual wanted by Leicestershire police for alleged drug offences worth thousands of pounds.

Mehmet Salih, 41, a Cypriot national, is wanted for alleged drug offences believed to have been committed in Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.

In May last year he is believed to have visited Lincolnshire for the purposes of delivering cocaine and collecting payment. The police recovered large amounts of cocaine and upon his arrest, Salih was found in possession of £20,000.

Salih is one of nine individuals wanted as part of this fugitive campaign, known as Operation Zygos, with the list containing wanted criminals linked with offences involving drug offences, fraud and serious sexual offences.

This campaign follows on from similar appeals in Spain and The Netherlands, which together have resulted in dozens of wanted fugitives being brought to justice.

Crimestoppers' regional manager for the East Midlands, Sue Langley, said: "This man is accused of some very serious drug offences and clearly believes he can get away with his wrongdoings.

"I would urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on our 0800 555 111 number of by filling out our secure online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org – we only want to know what you know, not who you are."

Salih is five foot six tall, proportionate build, brown eyes, Short dark brown hair and a scar on his right eye. He is wanted for conspiracy to supply a controlled drug of class A.

Crimestoppers has also set up a number for those in Cyprus to call with information anonymously, 8000 55 11, and website www.crimestoppers.org.cy .
