CYCLISTS and runners are invited to take part in an event organised by Pilgrim Hospital Heart and Lung Fund.
The event is scheduled to raise money through sponsorship to help United Lincolnshire Hospital's Trust raise money for a Cardiac Catheter Laboratory at Pilgrim Hospital to help patients who suffer from heart disease, particularly coronary artery disease.
The charity has about £60,000 on deposit but needs about four times this amount to provide the facility.
PHLF president, Cyril Nyman, is hoping many local people will take part in the event on Saturday, June 1.
He said: "Any of us may need this facility at some point in the future. The charity needs our help to provide this facility."
The cycle ride and run is a competition for participants. It is planned that each individual will be given a set time to ride or run which is expected to be one and a half hours.
Dr Nyman added: "The cyclist or runner that covers the greatest distance in this time will be awarded a prize."
There are currently five cyclists taking part but Dr Nyman would ideally like 12 to 15 participants.
Anyone who is interested can contact Dr Nyman by emailing him at email@example.com or via the cardiorespiratory department.
Since the fund was set up in the mid 1980s, the appeal has raised more than £1,000,000 which has helped to provide essential equipment and also funded two cardiac rehabilitation nurses, a resuscitation training officer for Pilgrim Hospital and south Lincolnshire and many more projects.
